About

On February 5, 2010, over 16 hours of continuous vocal music will take place at Eastview High School as part of the 2nd annual Voices of Hope Sing-a-Thon.  The event partners with Angel Foundation, a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide financial assistance and support to families of adult cancer patients.  All proceeds from Voices of Hope will go the efforts of the Angel Foundation.  Money will be raised through ticket sales, performance fees, participant sponsors, corporate sponsorship and merchandise and food sales.  Our goal is to raise over $25,000.

The sing-a-thon gets underway at 7:30 am on February 5 and continues until 12:00 midnight.  Eastview High School’s 640-seat, state-of-the-art Performing Arts Center will host school choirs, community and church choirs, soloists of all ages and notable professional artists and musicians.

The idea for Voices of Hope came from a conversation that emerged during a Women’s Chorale rehearsal at Eastview in the fall of 2008.  One student in the class was dealing with the grim prospects of her mother’s recent diagnosis with pancreatic cancer.  Of the 54 students in the choir, all acknowledged being personally affected by cancer, whether it being through a family member or friend who has struggled with the disease.  Almost instantly, the conversation turned to “How can we help?”  The group decided to use their voices and music to give hope and support to families dealing with the effects of cancer.

Over a year later and with one successful Voices of Hope completed, we are again inspired to give back to our community.  Our hope is that you will join us this year as a performer, an audience member, volunteer or donor.  With your help, we can continue to use music as a bridge between despair and hope for these families in crisis.
